We all must do theater; to find out who we are And what we could become.” AUGUSTO BOAL, Brazilian Artist and Social Justice Advocate

It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

I love this time of year.

The sparkle and joy in my kids eyes [my home kids, the ones my wife and I get to parent, not my school kids, or more accurately your kids,] totally, unequivocally sucks me in to the magic of this season. I hope all of you are also able to find joy, connection, maybe even a little bit of magic during this holiday season.

First up, we have our reschedule Another Day of Sun Theater Benefit coming up this Monday, December 13 at 7pm in the La Salle theater. This is a one-night only benefit with all funds going to support theater students here at La Salle through scholarship and supplies funding. We are suggesting $5 at the door; and we WILL NOT turn anyone way. Come as you are. We are grateful for the chance to perform for you all, and add another opportunity the come together as a community this holiday season.

Here’s a glimpse of the set list:

“Another Day of Sun” Group Choreography

“Dreamer in Disguise” performed by Aaron Leonard-Graham

“Gimme, Gimme” performed by Izzy Simonutti

“Santa Fe” performed by Isaac Shirley

“Meadowlark” performed by Izzy Sulloway-Ferreras

And so much more…

Please join us, you are truly going to have a such a good time and be so encouraged by what your kiddos have put together. Now a word from our ITS president Sofia Kahl ’22.

“Hello, hello!

As many of you know, La Salle’s International Thespian Honor Society Troupe 10116 is hosting the Another Day of Sun Benefit event on December 13, at 7pm. This event is a fundraiser intended to provide financial aid in the form of scholarships and activity waivers for theater students.  All proceeds will go directly to La Salle’s Theater for this purpose. We are suggesting a donation of $5 at the door. More than anything though, we’d love for you just to come and celebrate with us. Additonally, we are in need of 1 or 2 parent volunteers who would be available from about 6:40 – 7:20 on the night of the event to collect money and monitor the donations booth in the theater lobby. If that sounds like your jam then please contact ITS president Sofia Kahl at sokahl@lshigh.org or Mr. Shelton at mshelton@lshigh.org. Thanks so much for your time and I hope to see you there.”

In other news, the La Salle Choir is performing at the Grotto tomorrow night at 7pm. It’s been a couple of years since they’ve been able to perform…quick, one guess why? J And now La Salle is able to return to this joyous holiday tradition.

Speaking of the choir there will be another opportunity to see them perform live at the annual Choir and Guitar Christmas Concert here on campus on Thursday, December 16.

Yesterday, we had auditions for our Winter production, Gifted by Tommy Lee Johnstone. Produced by La Salle Theater under the guidance of Mr. Shelton and directed as a senior capstone project by senior Aaron Leonard-Graham. The energy was so fun at auditions yesterday. Check out the La Salle Theater Instagram page to see some behind the scenes shots.

FYI – Cast and crew list will be coming out tomorrow, so be prepared for either some joy or some sadness from your student. Let me know if there are any questions, concerns, clarifications if anything comes up.

Also, though we still have a bit, auditions and crew sign-ups for our spring musical Mamma Mia will be January 12, 13 & 14 after school in the theater. Informational packets will be posted next week and more information will be available soon.

I’ll leave you all alone for now. Let me know if you have any questions, ideas, thoughts, I love hearing from all of you. I hope you’re well. Be safe. Take care and happy, happy holidays!

Shelton
